BREATHATION
Industry: Breathwork + Wellness
Location: Sunshine Coast, Australia
Scope: Brand Strategy, Brand Identity, Creative Direction + Brand Assets
Project Type: New Brand Launch
Breathation is a new breathwork and wellness brand built around helping people reconnect with themselves through breath, presence and community. The project covered everything from strategy and identity through to the creative direction of the physical space, creating one cohesive brand world designed to support the launch now and future growth into studios, facilitators and broader community experiences.

OVERVIEW
Breathation came to me as more than a branding project. The bigger opportunity was to shape how the entire brand should feel, not just how it should look. The business is built around breathwork, self-connection, presence and community, so the challenge was creating something that felt calm and meaningful without falling into the usual wellness world of sage green, generic spiritual symbols and soft, predictable branding. I wanted Breathation to feel grounded, warm and almost ritualistic, while still being modern enough to grow into studios, facilitator training and a wider community. From the start, I treated the project through a creative direction lens, thinking about the brand, the physical environment, the textures, the language, the customer experience and how all of those things needed to work together.

PROCESS
The strategy came first. I researched the breathwork and wellness space, looked at how people actually understand the category, where the clichés were, and where Breathation had room to feel different. A big part of the thinking was simplifying the language. Coherence is important to the philosophy, but it isn’t always the clearest first message for someone new to breathwork, so I built the messaging around ideas people can immediately understand, like coming back to yourself, presence, connection and breath, then let coherence sit deeper within the brand. Visually, I created a symbol that can read as a person sitting cross-legged from above, or as two people sitting together, which connects back to both self and community. The centred dot inside the wordmark became a quieter reference to coherence and centredness, so the idea still lives in the identity without needing to be explained everywhere. I also deliberately moved away from the expected wellness palette and built the visual world around rich earth, clay, sand and deeper grounded tones. From there, I pushed the creative direction into the physical space too, including the fitout direction, materials, colour use, signage, textures and overall atmosphere. The studio is now being developed around that creative direction, which means the brand isn’t being added to the space afterwards, the space itself is being built from the brand.

OUTCOME
The outcome is a brand that feels like one complete world rather than a collection of separate design pieces. The strategy, identity, messaging and physical environment all point back to the same idea: Breathation should help people feel more present, connected and grounded from the moment they encounter it. The identity is simple enough to be recognisable, but it has enough meaning underneath it to grow with the business. The colour palette and materials give the brand warmth and weight, the symbol holds the deeper philosophy, and the language keeps everything approachable. What I’m most proud of with this project is that the creative direction moved beyond branding on paper and into the actual experience of the space. The fitout is being developed from the design direction I created, so what people eventually walk into will feel like the same Breathation world they see online, in print and across the identity. That’s exactly the kind of work I want to keep doing more of, shaping not just how a brand looks, but how it feels in the real world.
