BEYOND THE BIO

/OVERVIEW

Beyond the Bio was created as a podcast brand built to look past surface level success and into the fuller story of the women behind it. The concept centred on conversations that feel honest, current, intelligent, and human, not polished interviews built around titles, achievements, or personal branding soundbites.

The challenge was to create a brand that could hold depth without becoming heavy. It needed to feel playful, culturally aware, and visually distinctive, while still giving the subject matter enough space to land with credibility. In a category where many podcasts either lean overly serious or visually generic, the opportunity was to build something with real personality and a clear point of view.

At its core, Beyond the Bio is about what sits behind the headline version of a person. The woman behind the role. The tension behind the success. The identity behind the introduction. That thinking shaped not just the name, but the strategic foundation of the entire brand.

This wasn’t just about designing a logo for a podcast cover. It was about creating a full brand world. One that could stretch across streaming platforms, social content, episode promotion, studio visuals, guest assets, and launch collateral, while still feeling cohesive, recognisable, and alive.

/THE APPROACH

The work began with brand strategy. Before anything visual was developed, the brand needed a clear emotional and cultural position. The podcast wasn’t simply about women doing impressive things. It was about conversations with women beyond the title. Beyond the neat summary. Beyond the version people usually get.

That strategic direction shaped the tone from the outset. The brand voice needed to feel conversational, bold, curious, and slightly unfiltered, but never messy for the sake of it. It had to hold honesty and warmth alongside clarity and confidence. The result was a brand language that feels modern and direct, while still leaving room for nuance and real discussion.

From there, the visual identity was built to reflect that same energy. The system leans playful, but not childish. Bold, but not chaotic. The typography has a hand drawn, slightly imperfect quality that gives the brand warmth and recognisability, while the structured grid elements create balance and a sense of editorial control. That tension between looseness and structure became a defining part of the identity.

The colour palette plays a major role in making the brand feel instantly ownable. Electric blue, peach, lime, and powder tones create a world that feels energetic, fresh, and contemporary. It stands apart from the usual muted neutrals or predictable luxury cues often used in female led media branding. Instead, Beyond the Bio feels bright, expressive, and culturally switched on.

The asset system was developed well beyond the core logo. Supporting marks, badges, stickers, social templates, title cards, promo frames, and platform ready graphics were all designed to give the brand flexibility across launch and rollout. Phrases like “On Air,” “Guest Conversation,” “Editor’s Pick,” “Now Streaming,” and “Unfiltered” help build a graphic vocabulary around the show, making the identity feel active rather than static.

Creative direction was also a key part of the project. The brand needed to exist not just as graphics, but as an environment. That meant shaping a clear visual world for promo photography and studio setup so that the imagery felt like a continuation of the identity, not a separate layer added later. The direction focused on a set that felt contemporary, stylised, and recognisable at a glance. Softly surreal but still usable. Clean furniture, curved forms, grid backdrops, on air signage, saturated colour blocking, and intentional negative space all worked together to create a podcast environment that feels branded without becoming gimmicky.

This gave Beyond the Bio a much stronger rollout potential. The host imagery, guest setting, studio mood, and promotional content all feel like they belong to the same world. Rather than relying on a single cover tile, the podcast now has a full visual system and clear creative direction that can carry across stills, clips, episode launches, and future campaign moments.

/THE OUTCOME

Beyond the Bio now feels like a podcast with a fully realised identity, not just a name and a microphone. The strategy gives it meaning. The design gives it recognition. The creative direction gives it atmosphere and presence.

What makes the brand strong is that it doesn’t separate the message from the medium. The visual world reflects the same thing the podcast stands for. Openness, personality, honesty, and a willingness to go beyond the polished version. That alignment gives the brand credibility and makes it far more memorable.

Most importantly, the project created depth. Not just a logo suite or a few nice launch graphics, but a cohesive brand system supported by strategic thinking, visual assets, and a clear art directed vision for how the podcast should look and feel in the world.

Beyond the Bio proves that a podcast brand can do more than label content. When built properly, it can create anticipation, shape perception, and give the conversations themselves a stronger stage to exist on.
